Muritai Out of School Care (MASC) aims to provide a caring, safe and stimulating programme that caters for different ages, gender and cultural backgrounds while attempting to encompass individual needs and interests.

We believe that MASC should be a fun and supportive environment where everyone feels welcome, children are able to be involved in the planning of what they do and parents/caregivers are involved in issues that relate to them and their children. Our aim is to provide a quality service that is inclusive, equitable and culturally appropriate.

We promote a sense of community within this environment and provide activities and skill learning that links the space between school and home so that there is a focus on constructive play and individual learning through free choice.

We cater for any primary aged child in Eastbourne (Year 0 to 8). MASC has the use of the Green Room, Art Room and Hall at Muritai School and also the school grounds. Before School Care operates 7.30am to 9am daily and After School Care between 3pm and 6pm (school terms only).

Programme

MASC is an OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreation) approved programme. A benefit of this is that parents are able to apply for WINZ subsidy. Children are supervised both inside and outside with a simple, nourishing afternoon tea provided daily. A specific arts and craft programme runs each term and sports are played daily. Other activities vary from week to week including cooking, and lots of fun.

A large range of sports equipment, board games and construction material is available. A quiet room is available for children to rest, read or complete homework.

Fees
Current fee structure - $15 per day per child or $20 per day casual fee. Before School Care $7.50 per day per child or $10 per day casual fee. Fees are payable per term and are payable for public holidays and casual absences.

Management
The Board of Trustees are the guardians of Muritai Out of School Care and govern policy and management. The management and reporting to the Board is carried out by the Coordinator. A detailed policy folder is available for parents/caregivers. Please ask the Superviser.
